fall creative girl invitation

fall 2014 cg register

Dear Creative GIRL,

Fall is nearly here. I can tell by the color the is sun casting upon the trees…. that mellow golden orangey yellow, different than the bright yellowy yellow of summer… the fluffy whiteness of the clouds … and that exquisite blue …. ooooooooooh!!!!! Fall is my FAVE 🙂

I’ve been daydreaming about our next CG playshop and have a few fall-fabulous fun ideas in the works.

If you played last Fall, you’ll remember we had tents outdoors and got to spend time together beneath the blue sky and white fluffy clouds. Yes, weather permitting, we will do this again!

Our FALL playshop will honor the beautiful expressive art form of POETRY. We will celebrate a few great poets, and apply our hearts and minds to the creative task of writing our own. We will make beaded dreamcatchers and a teeny special journal especially for thoughts and ideas you want to keep close to your heart. (We’ll make a few other creations too, but I like to have a few surprises.) ❤

Registration is now OPEN.

creative girl july session: ready, set GO!!!!

cggoodies summer 2014

The night before every creative GIRL I get butterflies… like it’s Christmas!!!! kind of butterflies.

I get to set up a creative party for 12 girls. Art supplies, material, crafts AND upcycle materials. Then for 3 days I get to watch the girls make stuff, share with each other, and help one another. We talk about kindness, creativity and being our true selves.

This is my job. My sacred business. My JOY!

How lucky am I?!

wishing YOU creatiful blessings,
beckysig

word fun and courage link

Dear Creative Hearts,

Wowzer!!!! (as my 4-year-old Sonshine loves to say)! What an amazing experience.  I went to Carrboro, NC to be interviewed by an inspirational talk show host, Lee Anne McClymont for her program Courage Cocktail Radio. She invited me to come to share about Creative GIRL and the journey to where we are.

To say I needed courage for today, well is a bit of an understatement. Even though I love talking and public speaking, this was really different for me: this was about my heart, completely from my heart for all to hear. Yes I have written online and shared with friends privately (in talking circles) about stepping away from my career, but this was the first time I publicly aired some of what happened, so I had to dig deep. I knew going into the interview that Lee Anne would be a beautiful guide and help me through. Lee Anne was so delightful, curious, gracious and supportive … I am so grateful for the blessing she is.

I know with all my heart that courage is not about losing your fear, rather courage is about facing your fear and doing things anyway.

Below is a link to the interview. Listen and if you want to, comment below and let me know what you are thinking. (I’m in the first half hour, then Lee Anne has Dr. Kathy Gruver sharing tips about identifying and managing our reactions to stress.)

In the interview I share a writing exploration we did during a previous playshop: the “I Am” poem. Here it is.  Everyone can be a poet. Check out this link . You can quickly create a thought-provoking poem about the most wonderful person in the world: YOU! I’d love to see your creation, and I know others will too. There is no right or wrong, good or bad … just enjoy the words that come through you and play with them.

Thank you for reading, for listening, and for playing together in this unusual way.

courage is creative,

beckysig

P.S. Oooh and if you are interested in this summer’s playshops, check out this page for more details. I do not spend ANY money on advertising, so if you decide to share the Creative GIRL Web site with friends with middle-school-aged girls, maybe the world will be a bit shiny-er!?
