a mighty creative secret

There is something so special and wonderful about sharing a secret with a friend; a secret that revolves around love, joy and surprises, planned for people unawares! Do you know that feeling? You know… like planning a surprise party for someone you love, and they have NO idea all the details you’ve been planning and thinking and dancing to life for their DELIGHT. Well, I’ve had such a secret with a dear friend of mine, and the surpriseEEEE may be YOU.

And then there is the moment when the secret begins to reveal. Ahhhhhhhhhh! Well, we are now ready to tell you a little bit about. The creatiful nutshell of it all is that my beautiful friend–artist and activist Wendy Cook of Mighty Girl Art–and I are co-creating a retreat experience for YOU and your mother. (If you are a Mama of a Creative GIRL then it’s for YOU and your daughter.)

Many more details shall be revealed, but for now I will share that art, creativity, laughter and ancient trees are involved. Just you WAIT!!! I can’t tell you where just yet, but offer you the date… July 9th to 12th, 2015.

Oh, and our secret’s name? Mighty Creative Adventure…. but of course because that is what you get when you combine Mighty Girl with Creative Girl: MIGHTY CREATIVE! I’m so blessed and grateful and excited to collaborate and co-create with Wendy: a woman whom I adore and feel so inspired by. We have countless joys and passions in common, most especially our commitment to the essence of YOU! I know you are going to ❤ Wendy, too.

special invitations for WOMEN

Dear Creatiful!

There are LOTS of things bubbling in my heart as I’m planning the next few playshops for our creative girls AND for creative WOMEN too!

For now, I have two invitations I’d like to extend, especially for women.

A few times a year I am honored to offer playshops at A Place for Women to Gather. The next program is called “Lighting Her Moon” and is especially for mothers, grandmothers, aunts and other women who have a young girl in their lives. I created this program because it was something I wanted to experience myself, for my own daughters. This playshop will offer an opportunity for learning and sharing that I feel is very important for the health of our daughters, and for honoring our own female sacredness.

Here is the description from the brochure:

Lighting HER Moon
This program shares ideas and traditions celebrating our daughters first menstruation and monthly moon time. It intends to spark ideas about how we can best honor our own girls’ transition into this special time in a girl’s life in our modern lives. We will explore different rituals and practices around the world honoring girls’ first menarche and her ongoing lunar cycles. The last portion of our time together we will create a hand-molded candle, reflecting the Navajo practice of molding, molding into the candle your intentions for strength, wisdom and courage for a young girl in your life.
Dates/Times: Wednesday, September 3, 6:30–9 p.m. OR Saturday, September 6, 1–3:30 p.m.
Suggested donation: $35 (includes materials)

Sacred Kindness Retreat
Many women have asked me to create creative GIRL playshops specifically for women … and the secret is out … I’m excited to share with you that I DO! Registration just opened for the fall Sacred Kindness Retreat. This special 4 day, 3 night mountain pilgrimage is offered twice a year for 13 women. The next one will be October 9th to the 12th. Oooh, and I’m excited to tell you that I’ll be announcing the Fall Creative GIRL date later this week.

magical mandala playshop for women

Dear Creative Heart,

Next Tuesday night February 18th, 6:30 to 9 pm at The Place for Women to Gather in Raleigh I’m offering a creativity playshop especially for women– it’s time for Magical Mandalas. We’ll have a sharing circle especially to love, honor and lift your creative heart, a guided visualization and meditation, AND plenty of time to co-create magical mandalas.
